A 42-year-old man received a pretty unusual penalty the other day when police were called to his house. He was listening to music at an incredibly loud volume, and neighbors were none too pleased. So, what was the rock and roller rocking out to when cops knocked on his door and cited him? John Denver. That’s right, a guy claims he was rocking out to John Denver, which was why he had the volume up loud enough to be heard outside the apartment.
That begs the question: is it actually possible to rock out to John Denver? I never would have guessed such a thing would be possible, given how folk-rocky Denver is. I mean, he makes Bob Dylan sound like the death metal rooster! If anything, the guy had his “Rocky Mountain High” blaring so as to avoid being lulled to sleep by the Colorado-loving troubadour!
The man was cited for unnecessary loud noise, which carries a penalty of up to $210 in fines. Really, how can you punish someone who chooses to listen to John Denver? There’s no torture device that compares to that.
