When farmer Leszek Stepien’s faithful truck gave out on him, he came up with a brilliant plan to get it to the repair shop. To avoid the cost of a tow, he decided to hook his farm horse up to the van with chains and have the horse pull the van to the garage! Great idea, right? I thought so too. Where the 62-year-old from Skwierzyna, Poland, went wrong was the part of the story where he got good and drunk first. Stepien wrecked his makeshift horse and buggy, thanks to being so drunk he could not see.
Stepien was twice the legal limit for drink-driving, and when cops found him standing beside his overturned van, they found him drunkenly berating the horse for the accident. I guess the horse, being the sober one, was supposed to be the one driving the carriage, and he was just along for the ride? The horse was unharmed, the van is still wrecked, and Stepien faces charges of animal cruelty and drunk driving.
