In the quaint medieval city of Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia, there’s a unique pharmacy. Raeapteek, or the Town Hall Pharmacy in English, isn’t like a standard western pharmacy. I mean, I’m sure they sell western medicine too, but Town Hall Pharmacy is famous for its aphrodisiacs and other folk medicines. Indeed, the pharmacy has been selling the same sorts of love (and even some anti-love) herbs for over 500 years!
While it’s tempting to snicker at a store that sells love drugs, there’s a lot of value to be had in traditional folk medicine like bee-sting therapy and whatnot. I wonder how those love herbs would stack up against, say, curry and chocolate prawns and other foods infamous for their libido-inflaming qualities. Better yet, I wonder how the anti-love drugs work when used against someone who has already been dosed with a love drug! Would that be like mixing NyQuil and DayQuil?
