Despite millions of dollars poured into research, masses of publicity on detection, and research on what foods could and could not prevent it, there’s still no cure for cancer. However, if an injection developed at the Cleveland Clinic proves to be true, we just might be able to prevent breast cancer in the same manner we can prevent some cervical cancers, via vaccination. Dr. Vincent Tuohy believes he has developed a breast cancer vaccine to prevent the disease from appearing.
Dr. Tuohy tested his vaccine on groups of 12 rats genetically engineered to be predisposed to breast cancer. On the six mice that he injected with the solution, none of them got breast cancer. In a control group that received a placebo, all six mice eventually got breast cancer.
As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. When it comes to cancer, isn’t it best to stop it before it appears? Clinical trials are expected to start shortly, with the goal of getting the vaccination into the arm of all women over 40.
