The Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Missouri, just outside St. Louis, was packed and ready for rock and roll. Opening acts The Stills and The Postelles had played, though not without incident. You see, the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater is infested with birds, so there’s a whole lot of bird poop on the stage. The openers, probably used to people throwing crap at them (albeit not literal crap), played on. However, when the Kings of Leon took the stage, they only lasted three songs before the pigeons pooped them off the stage.
The band attempted to play, but after the third or fourth time that Kings bass player Jared Followill was hit with flying dookie, they called it a night leaving a stunned and angry crowd confused and feeling very ripped off. It wasn’t until Kings drummer Nate Followill tweeted the reason for the canceled gig that fans received some word of why the concert was called off. He said, “So sorry St. Louis. We had to bail, pigeons (expletive) in jareds mouth. Too unsanitary to continue.”
Jeez, I guess everyone’s a music critic! Still, that’s a pretty crappy thing to do to your fans, but I guess it beats not playing at all.
