Follow the bouncing balls! If you’re a Google user, and you probably are, you’ll notice that the company’s traditional Google doodle logo has changed, yet again. It’s not something Labor Day-themed, but it’s a bunch of bouncing balls that, when you mouse over them, they start flying around the screen. When left alone, they eventually turn into the normal Google logo, just rendered dot-style. Among the best theories I’ve read on Twitter or seen on various websites is that Google’s balls are somehow related to some sort of HTML5 compliance test for users of Firefox and Google Chrome. Nobody at Google has talked about what it means yet, but they supposedly have some event scheduled tomorrow to discuss their balls.
Then again, it may just be Google showing off. I mean, do all their Doodles have to mean something? Generally, all of them have so far (even the bar code!), but this might just be them having a little fun, like they did with their playable Pac-Man logo. I can’t think of any celebrities they’d honor with bouncing balls, and it’s not some kind of Halloween theme, so really, I’m as clueless as the rest of you. Still, if pressed, I’d say it’s related to HTML5.
