Selma Elmore had a simple question. The 44-year-old woman from Cincinnati, Ohio, flagged down a cop by the name of Dan Lyons and asked him, quite simply, if she had any outstanding arrest warrants. Of course, with a question like that, if you have to ask, you’re better off not knowing. As it turns out, Elmore had an outstanding warrant, meaning the wanted woman flagged down her own arresting officer.
While there have been cases of mistaken warrants, sometimes over 50 times, odds are if you think you have an outstanding warrant, you probably do. It’s probably best not to draw attention to yourself, so don’t appear on TV and whatever you do, don’t flag down a cop, tell him your name, and ask him about your outstanding warrant. To her credit, Elmore was smart enough to run from the officer, but that just added to her impending jail time by tacking on resisting arrest charges.
