When Sean Cullen, 25, walked into the Hillsborough Market in Manchester, New Hampshire, he had one goal in mind. He was going to rob the place. He walked in, handed a threatening note to the cashier/owner, and then said, loudly, “Give me your money, or you’re going to die.” However, she didn’t give him the money and she didn’t die, because when a pair of customers walked in, they saw the robbery taking place and jumped into action. One of the customers forced Cullen to the ground. When he tried to make a getaway, a man delivering food used a large squash to club the robber in the head. It wasn’t long after the squashing that police arrived and arrested Cullen.
Who knew that the squash made such a good weapon? Zucchini are good against bears; apparently squash are a natural anti-robbery defense system. That’s good to know in case I’m ever in a grocery store and trouble breaks out. Just head to the vegetable section and find a monster pumpkin or some other spectacular winter vegetable to quell the violence.
