Marshmallow Peeps, long thought to be a treat only for the spring, have become a full-time business for confectioners Just Born. Last year, they launched an event called Peeps Fest, featuring Peeps-themed art and events, music, and general fun and frolic. This year’s Peeps Fest promises to be even bigger, with a third day of programming being added. The celebration will run from December 28 to December 31, and will culminate in a New Year’s Eve Peep Drop, featuring a four-and-a-half foot tall, 85-pound giant Peep standing in for the New Year’s Ball.
“Peeps Fest was so popular in 2009 that we added a third day of programming this year,” said Brian Bachrach, senior brand manager for Peeps. “In addition, visitors will enjoy even more performers and activities. Just Born and ArtsQuest are committed to presenting quality activities and events that appeal to both children and adults, and what better time for family fun than between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Once again, we’re inviting everyone to join us at the festival’s end for the free fireworks display and Peeps Chick drop to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.”
