It’s one of the most unusual and successful shoplifting sprees in memory. Richard Lavern Remington, 52, and Angela Rose Evans, 32, are alleged to be the two people behind an incredibly successful shoplifting ring in the Portland, Oregon, area. Remington and Evans are believed to have shoplifted over $5 million dollars worth of merchandise from area Safeway stores. The couple were arraigned in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Wednesday.
The couple basically stole everything they could get their hands on, including shampoos, razors, Rogaine, teeth whiteners, conditioner, batteries, DVDs, and CDs. According to Safeway store security, Remington stole an estimated $400,000 in items every year for five years. Between November 19 and January 14, Remington visited Safeway stores 103 times with intent to steal, and Evans was there for half of them. It’s no wonder that the Safeway store security team placed an electronic tracking device on Remington’s van to know when he was coming to the store.
The couple even made out a shopping list of things to steal! How brazen is that?! Shoplifting is one thing, but making out a grocery list to steal is just gusty, bar none.
