The man, the myth, the legend: Col. Harland Sanders!
Every restaurant begins with a single person with an idea. KFC is no different. Their founder, Colonel Harland Sanders, is so renowned for his life story that he’s practically a legend. Well, as it turns out, the legend of Col. Sanders is true, and KFC has finally decided to do right by their founder and collect stories of his life, his deeds, and his philosophy in one convenient location. KFC is launching ColonelSanders.com to honor their late founder by collecting stories of the Colonel and his legendary generosity. Feel free to head over to ColonelSanders.com and read (or share) your own Colonel stories.
Growing up in Louisville, epicenter of KFC and the fast food industry as a whole, I know a whole lot about Colonel Sanders, and every person I know has a story about the Colonel, either from their parents or themselves or some kind of second- or third-hand connection to the man in the white suit and string tie. All of them center on two key details of the man’s life: he was as nice as you could possibly hope for and as generous as you could possibly be, and he always regretted selling Kentucky Fried Chicken to Pepsi in the 70’s. He was also a stickler for the quality of the food, so some things like the Double Down would’ve never been allowed under the Colonel’s reign, and every attempt to mess with his famous recipe was blocked by the man himself.
