You may wonder why the woman in the photo above is making that “What am I seeing?” face. Well, it’s because she is watching the gonzo troupe of strong men Warriors of Goja perform their crazy, high energy act on the Indian talent show she is judging.
It all starts out rather tame with some rope twirling, so give the video about 45 seconds before the real action kicks in. Then they bring out some fluorescent light tubes. They each take turns walloping the glass tubes across their own face and head and then against each other. They also chew on the broken lights. The shards eventually create a bloody mess. Then sledgehammers come out and more stuff gets broken. Sometimes they just pound their partners with the sledgehammer. Before you know it, they are running over a member with both a car and a motorcycle and are free-falling 20 feet through more glass tubes. It’s all at a frantic, frenzied pace with more T-shirt shredding than a Hulk Hogan highlight video. The performance gives you little time to process what you’ve just seen.
I’d like to see Susan Boyle or that Taiwanese kid who sings like Whitney Houston or anyone on America’s Got Talent entertain me like this. Maybe I should just hope they do more of those Gong Show Live performances. Chuck Barris would have killed to get an act like the Warriors of Goja on his show.
