I like big books, and I cannot lie.
Yep, I’m a self-admitted reader. Granted, I don’t zip through books like a friend of mine, who I swear is a speed reader, but I plow through them at my own pace.
Like the bookshelves built into a staircase, I’ve got piles of books I’ve purchased just waiting for me to crack open and dive in. Through all this I’ve resisted getting an e-reader like the new version of the Nook or all the versions of Kindles, but at Christmas my family purchased me a Kindle Fire as a gift. So far, I’m enjoying it and I still haven’t put it through all its paces just yet. I like that if, while reading an e-book, you have a question about a word’s definition or the way it was used in a sentence, you can just click on it. The definition pops up right on the screen. I’ve always been a dictionary fanatic. I’ve kept one on my nightstand for years. So that feature alone is a bonus. However, I don’t trust myself to read with my Kindle Fire while I soak in a hot bath. Although somebody was willing to leave an extremely rare book in a bathroom, the ones I read in the tub are usually just the basic paperbacks.
Despite being a recent convert to digital reading, I still love the feel of a book in my hand. That’s why a trip to a book store is always a treat. However, with the closing of so many big chain book stores in the last couple of years, independent bookstores are even more important to bibliophiles.
The store Type in Toronto showcased just what an independent seller can offer in their fun video. I like the clever way they utilized cover art during the video. Faces peek out from the shelves and dancers twirl in their finery.
