The shooting that took place in an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater debuting The Dark Knight Rises was a horrible, tragic event. Christian Bale and his wife, Sibi Blazic, visited Aurora yesterday to thank medical staff and visit shooting survivors. Bale came representing himself, according to Warner Brothers; he and his wife also visited the theater where the shooting took place and walked among the memorials to the fallen. Bale and his wife were afforded privacy during their visit, though Bale agreed to pose with staff and victims for pictures.
“When we got there, then we found out he was there. He just said he wanted to come to thank all of us because he has been thinking about this. He knows the whole world has been thinking about this,” said Janie Bowman-Hayes of nearby Swedish Medical Center, who was attending a luncheon at The Medical Center of Aurora in honor of medical staff who had aided victims. “He took it upon himself to come and thank us.”
Christian Bale has a reputation as a bit of a hot-head, and like most actors I have no doubt he can be tough to deal with, but this is a classy move by Bale. There have been a lot of online petitions asking him to visit Aurora, and he did so. That’s a positive move on his part, and I’m glad to see him bring some light into the lives of these people who worked so hard and suffered so much.
