Clowns are a mixed bag.  For every person that loves clowns, and there are a lot of them, there’s a person that is mortified by clowns.  When you pick up a clown for a child’s birthday, there’s no shortage of happy, cavorting folk in greasepaint making balloon animals, but where’s the evil?  That’s what Dominic Deville wanted to know, and that’s why he’s become the world’s first evil clown for hire.  His act is brilliant, too.

He’s got seven days in which to track down his victim and smash a cake into their face.  If the child avoids the hit, they get the cake to eat.  If not, they get to have a cake smashed in their face!  In the meantime he leaves taunting notes, sets booby-traps in mailboxes, and generally stalks and plays pranks on his victim.  While he won’t show up at work or break into the home, everywhere else is fair game!

Deville, from Lucerne, Switzerland, got his idea from watching horror films like Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Stephen King’s It.  However, he’s careful not to take it too far.  “It’s all in fun and if, at any point, the kids get scared or their parents are concerned, we stop right there.  But most kids absolutely love being scared senseless.”
