It’s a big day in Hollywood. Hairdressers are rolling and shellacking their clients’ hair. Designers are making final adjustments to gowns. Limo drivers are fueling up their long black vehicles. Housekeeping is running the vacuum over the red carpet.
And Billy Crystal is rehearsing his jokes one last time.
Yep, it’s Oscar Night in LA.
That means a select few actors and actresses will be celebrating with one bald gold fellow tonight and into the morning, while a few other elite performers will be throwing out quotes about it being “an honor just to be nominated.” You know those latter folks have to appear gracious even if they really really wanted to wrap their hand around Oscar.
For every winner, there are multiple losers who had to fake a smile and applaud their fellow nominee.

I know I’ll be curled up on the couch, champagne flute in hand, watching all the festivities and paying a little more attention to the losers’ reactions now. Oscar night is a tradition at my house, but I’m guessing Brett Ratner and Eddie Murphy have other plans this evening.
