What if there was a housing project that used mountains of garbage to construct affordable homes? We’re talking broken glass shards for mirrors and wine corks used to pave a floor. This is what a guy in Texas has been doing with throw-away material that he recycles to build actual houses.
In fact, 85% of any given house Dan builds is made up of random trash (or another man’s treasure). They don’t look bad either — kind of weird, but not ugly!
The motive is to use material that would otherwise get buried to actually put a roof over people’s head. The working poor can’t afford $100,000 “cheap” homes around Texas, so he contributes to this project by working alongside the future homeowners to build their house from the ground up.
