Remember Tay Zonday, the aspiring singer-songwriter and keyboardist? No? Remember the YouTube video “Chocolate Rain,” the ridiculous song with the hypnotic keyboard riff in the background and lyrics that made no sense like, “Chocolate Rain, only in the past is what they say”? Yeah, now we’re talkin’!
Well, that’s written and performed by one Tay Zonday (and that’s a stage name), who is now the winner of a 2007 YouTube award.
His nonsensical song and music video went so viral, he not only got to make the late night talk show rounds–Jimmy Kimmel Live, Best Week Ever–and be included in countless year-end lists, but people are now getting his likeness tattooed on their bodies.
Watch as one man gets Zonday’s face inked onto his right shoulder. And while you watch, just think about a couple of things for me: what a bad idea it is to get internet memes permanently tattooed on your person, and how much better off you are that you don’t have a YouTube channel and will therefore not be forced to do stupid things on camera to get attention. Enjoy:
