Professional wrestling is getting more mainstream exposure now than it has since the halcyon days of Stone Cold Steve Austin and the New World Order back in 1998. Thanks in no small part to Mickey Rourke, who was robbed of an Oscar win for his incredible role in Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. It’s a hard life those men and women lead: on the road constantly, taking pain medicine like candy, away from their families and friends, killing themselves in front of fans night in and night out. Some guys, like former WWE superstar Nick “Eugene” Dinsmore, allow their demons to rob them of their place in the spotlight and struggle to regain it.
However, some wrestlers adjust to their career after the footlights fade and move onto greater things. Rick Steiner, former WCW, WWE, and NWA tag team champion, is now a realtor. He’s not the only success story, as these ten semi-retired wrestlers are all doing pretty well for themselves. That’s not even counting former wrestler and commentator Jesse “The Body” Ventura, former governor of Minnesota!
So, in the spirit of positive thinking, here’s a compilation video of some of the funniest moments in wrestling, featuring such wrestlers as Ebessan (the clown-looking guy with big ears), Kuishinbo (the actual clown), Colt Cabana (the dark-haired white guy), Steve Corino (the blond guy with the dark beard), and Jushin Thunder Lyger (the guy with the black, pointy mask and crazy hair).
Confession: I’ve been a huge fan of pro wrestling all my life. That’s why I know so much about it. No, I’m not ashamed of it; if people can watch soap operas, I can have my ‘roid opera!
