Months after Jay Leno took over The Tonight Show from Conan O’Brien, only to discover that ratings aren’t what they used to be before Jay burned off all his good will with most of America by stabbing Conan in the back like he stabbed Johnny Carson in the back, Jay’s doing interviews on the subject.  He discusses it in a little sit-down moment with Joy Behar on Headline News’ Joy Behar Show.  It’s nice to see that Jay holds no ill will about the subject and about Jimmy Kimmel’s serious lampooning of him.  Still, he must be living in a dream world if he thinks NBC screwed him.

He’s right about Conan getting screwed.  He’s right about TV being a business where the goal is to stick it to the other guy before he does the same to you.  That said, Jay’s everyman image took a serious hit during this controversy, and he needs to get it back.  Doing little interview-type snippets like this one is the easiest way to make a grasp at that again.
