Slash, best known as the mop-headed, top-hatted guitar slinger for 80’s and 90’s hard rock band Guns and Roses, has shown that the late night wars aren’t over.  Just because Jay Leno is back on the Tonight Show, that doesn’t mean Slash is ready to make nice while promoting his self-titled solo debut album Slash.  After all, during his performance on Tonight last night, Slash was wearing an “I’m with Coco” button proudly on the strap of his guitar.  Way to go, Slash!

The battle might have been lost, but Team Conan‘s partisan forces aren’t letting things return to normal.  Not until Coco gets his own show again, anyway.   To their credit, NBC did a great job of editing around the offensive button so as to give it minimal screen time, but by doing so they’ve created a sensation.  It’s the exact opposite of hiding in plain sight.

It helps a lot that the song was actually pretty good, too. I just wish the button would’ve gotten more screen time!
