Want to see something beautiful? The Johnny Cash Project is an ambitious project to assemble a music video for Johnny Cash’s posthumous album Ain’t No Grave (AKA American VI) out of thousands of drawings. You can check out the project here, but the final video result has been released and the end result is just… I don’t even know how to express how it makes me feel. Just watch it.
Remember how when the video for “Hurt” (from American IV: The Man Comes Around) came out and it was just the most beautiful, heart-wrenching thing imaginable? Yeah, it’s kind of like that, mixed with a little bit of inspiration. It’s hard to even think about it without wanting to tear up, and I’m not ashamed to admit that. It’s beautiful; The Johnny Cash Project has done some seriously good work here. What an amazing project. For all his faults, Rick Rubin has done some wonderful work documenting the last few years of Johnny Cash’s life.
