Guinness World Records loves nothing more than a good contrast. A couple of years ago, they got Sultan Kosen, the world’s tallest man, together with He Pingping, then the world’s shortest man, for an epic series of pictures. Now, they’re recreating the tallest/smallest dichotomy with dogs. To celebrate the launch of the 2011 Guinness World Records book, the organization threw a party in New York City featuring the world’s largest dog meeting the world’s smallest dog.
Giant George, the world’s largest dog, is a fixture at the pages of PopFi, but appearing for the first time is Boo Boo, the world’s smallest dog. George measures 7 foot 3 from nose to tail, while Boo Boo is only 4 inches tall, less than a mouthful for Giant George: “I was a little scared,” said Boo Boo’s owner, Lana Elswick. “I was a little afraid George would mistake my little Boo Boo for a snack. But he is, truly, a gentle giant.”
Giant George, according to owner David Nasser, eats 110 pounds of dog food a month, while Boo Boo eats out of a teaspoon. No doubt George could sneeze and accidentally turn Boo Boo into paste, so I can understand their concern. Even gentle giants are still giants!
