Angry Dad Goes After Middle-School Bullies

Posted 9/20/2010 8:00 am by

James Jones has gone from simple working man to folk hero.  How’d he become an icon to millions of parents?  Simple, he lost his temper in an epic way.  It’s a horrible example to the children, and Jones knows that, but he couldn’t take any more.  After his special-needs daughter was hit, pushed, insulted, and pelted with condoms on the school bus, Jones did what a lot of people in his situation wouldn’t; James Jones stormed onto the school bus, had his daughter point out the bullies in question, and then Jones gave them an angry dressing-down in front of the entire bus full of middle schoolers.

Jones, 42, has two children.  His 11-year-old daughter, a student at Greenwood Lakes Middle School in Lake Mary, Florida, has cerebral palsy.  After his outburst, Jones was arrested and charged with misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing a school function.  Still, Jones, who told children on the bus, “This is my daughter, and I will kill the (expletive) who fought her,” has become a hero to millions of frustrated parents who know that schools won’t deal with real bullying until it’s too late.

“He said he was going to (expletive) the bus driver up first, and he (then) he was going to do it to everybody else,”  said Alonzo Brundidge, one of the teens confronted.  The 13-year-old Brundidge’s mother is angry, but she should be angry with herself for raising a child who’d pick on a girl with cerebral palsy.  He, and all the other kids, on that bus needed to be yelled at for either picking on this girl or allowing her to be picked on.

Posted 2/01/2012 7:00 am by

Kristen Bell, known to TV fans as intrepid teen detective Veronica Mars and the Sarah Marshall of Forgetting Sarah Marshall fame, is as cute as a bug’s ear.  There’s no getting around that, especially not after her recent appearance on Ellen.  The only thing cuter than Kristen Bell is Kristen Bell meeting a sloth.  During [...]

Blake Griffin Is Going To Dunk Someone’s Face Off

Posted 1/31/2012 6:00 am by

Blake Griffin is an athletic freak of nature.  He’s one of the best jumpers in the NBA in years, and since he’s already nearly 7 feet tall, his freakish leaping ability and very long arms make him one of the hardest players in the NBA to guard.  And that’s before you give him an All-Star [...]

Well, guess who won’t go away?  If you said Casey Anthony, you might be correct.  A video diary post surfaced on a pay-per-view website that is reported to be Casey Anthony’s actual video blog; it was quickly reposted to YouTube and later confirmed by Casey’s attorney, Cheney Mason.  Looks like that whole “go into hiding [...]

Posted 12/22/2011 2:00 pm by

It’s been a long time since director Ridley Scott mined the science-fiction and horror universes for film ideas.  After all, since blazing a trail with Alien in 1979, Scott did Blade Runner, Legend, and not a whole lot taking place in fantasy worlds.  However, Ridley Scott is returning to the sci-fi horror genre with the [...]

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Trailer

Posted 12/21/2011 9:00 am by

When it comes to fantasy worlds, no one’s done it quite as well as J.R.R. Tolkien.  When it comes to adapting Tolkien’s work to the big screen, no one’s done it quite like Peter Jackson.  He’s the only person to pull off live action Tolkien, and he’s probably the only person I would want attempting [...]

The Expendables 2 Gets An Epic Trailer!

The original film of The Expendables was a great moviegoing experience.  Sure, it’s not a smart movie, but what it had was a sense of fun, crazy action, and some of the biggest names to ever pick up a gun and quip while killing hordes of people.  I mean, seriously; it had Sylvester Stallone AND [...]

NMA’s Take On Elf On The Shelf: Best Video Ever?

Posted 12/13/2011 8:00 am by

I’ll be the first to admit I’ve never really heard of Elf on the Shelf until recently.  Apparently, it’s a stalker elf that watches children in a creepy, evil fashion to make sure they’re doing good and not misbehaving like a drunk Frosty at a Christmas parade.  That’s all well and good, but I need [...]

GI Joe: Retaliation Trailer Released

It’s tough to make a movie about toys, be they mach toys or an action version of My Little Pony.  Unless you’re doing a flick about creepy toys, adapting a real-world toy line to the big screen is difficult at best.  However, the first GI Joe movie–GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra–was a fairly successful [...]

You take a bunch of college kids, stick them in a cabin, and cue the menacing force out to kill them.  Be it rednecks, disease, zombies, vampires, or whatever, going to a secluded cabin for a weekend of drinking and smoking and sex is a bad idea in movies, right?  Right.  However, just because you [...]
