It’s been a long time since director Ridley Scott mined the science-fiction and horror universes for film ideas. After all, since blazing a trail with Alien in 1979, Scott did Blade Runner, Legend, and not a whole lot taking place in fantasy worlds. However, Ridley Scott is returning to the sci-fi horror genre with the creepy, brilliant teaser trailer for his latest, Promethius. It’s a kinda-sorta in-the-same-universe prequel to Alien, and I could not be more excited for a movie. Check it out below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_luIM6xaIckPromethius will star Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce. According to the movie’s logline: “The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.”
What does that mean? I have no idea, but I’m looking forward to finding out. Maybe mankind finds aliens; maybe aliens find mankind. Maybe Ridley Scott combines 2001 with Alien and makes magic! You never know!
