Blake Griffin is an athletic freak of nature. He’s one of the best jumpers in the NBA in years, and since he’s already nearly 7 feet tall, his freakish leaping ability and very long arms make him one of the hardest players in the NBA to guard. And that’s before you give him an All-Star point guard like Chris Paul to distribute the ball for him. Kendrick Perkins found this out the hard way last night. Blake Griffin threw down one of the sickest dunks I’ve ever seen over Kendrick Perkins during the third quarter of the Clippers/Thunder game (video may auto-start).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v6YiU6RXdUThe Los Angeles Clippers bested the Oklahoma City Thunder 112 to 100, yet all anyone could talk about was Blake Griffin the dunk machine. Even Kendrick Perkins! Of course, since Perkins is the man who was the victim of a highlight-reel dunk, he kind of has to talk about it, but still, here’s Perk’s take on getting posterized.
“Well, it happens,” said Perkins, the Thunder’s center. “At the end of the day, if you’re a shot-blocker, you’re going to get dunked on. It was a great play that he made. Obviously, I wish I wasn’t in it, but it was a great play that he made. It was a clean dunk-on. I was just trying to stop him from getting to the rim. I didn’t know what happened. I was just trying to get to the rotation. Our defensive coverage broke down.”
