Dawn comes to the Planet of the Apes.
One of the most surprising films of 2011 was Rise of the Planet of the Apes. A prequel of sorts to the classic 1970’s sci-fi series of movies about a planet where apes evolved from man and have assumed the place of the dominant species on the planet, it was a surprisingly smart, surprisingly touching, surprisingly awesome tale of just how the apes got their super-intelligence to match their strength and reflexes and dexterity and make themselves the top of the food chain. Now the plot is advancing, and the apes haven’t just risen; indeed, their day is dawning. The trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has been released, and it looks appropriately epic.
Here’s the IMDB page for the film, and here’s the trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_9-3Fj3ZdIThe screenwriters from Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, are back, along with new editions Scott Z. Burns (Contagion) and Mark Bomback (50 Shades of Gray). Andy Serkis is back to play ape leader Caesar (and all the other apes, presumably), while human actors Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, and Jason Clarke are there to lead the human resistance. Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is there to man the director’s chair and yell instructions at a bunch of damn dirty apes.
