Rocket speaks!

Marvel has done an absolutely brilliant job of making big, accessible movies that are true to the spirit of comic books, that are very entertaining, and that end up making hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office, if not billions of dollars.  From the techno-babble of Iron Man to the paranoia thriller of Captain America, Marvel’s done a great job of building worlds for its characters yet making those worlds flexible enough to where everyone can come together for the next Avengers movie without straining too hard to make it all fit together.  Given their success, Marvel is ready to start gambling, and the company’s first big gamble since Thor hit theaters will be coming August 1.  Marvel is indulging in its space lust and there’s now a more finished version to feast your eyes upon.  The second trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is here.  Check it out below.

I have to admit, I was worried about the idea of both Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper providing voices, but having heard both Groot and Rocket Raccoon speak, I think my fears were unfounded.  The first trailer for GotG was charming and funny and pretty much exactly what you’d want from a James Gunn superhero movie starring Chris Pratt.  It looks like it’s going to be a blast, perhaps the most fun comic book movie yet, and I really can’t wait to see if it’s as successful with the rest of the world as it is with me.  Fingers crossed, because I want more Marvel Space movies.
