The very unlucky Kara Weatherman made an unusual discovery the other day. Apparently, a rat had gotten into her Winston-Salem, North Carolina, bathroom via the toilet, of all places. So she did what any person would in that situation; she grabbed the plunger and an empty container of cat litter and she scared that rat right back down the toilet, where it swam away via the sewers. I don’t know about you, but my skin is crawling right about now.
The key to avoiding this in your house is to have a backwater valve, which keeps things moving in the right direction. In this case, out of your house and into the sewers, where the rats are free to surf or do whatever they do. Officials believe the rare incident is a result of the rat trying to escape the unusually cold weather.
Here’s the video. Warning, it’s not for the squeamish. There’s nothing bad about it, aside from the fact it’s a rat swimming down a toilet.
