There’s not much I love more than destruction. Whether you blow something up, smash something with a hammer, or just let nature slowly degrade it, there’s something fascinating about watching mankind’s creation return to the elements. For example, check out this gallery of ship wreck graveyard images from io9 and tell me you’re not secretly fascinated by these images of sinking, burning, or rusting boats.
The image above is of a burning replica of a Dutch East India Company Prince Wilhelm-style vessel in Den Helder, Netherlands. Why is it on fire in the harbor at a shipping museum? I don’t know. It fascinates me, though; I’ve always kind of wanted a funeral pyre, rather than a quick cremation or a normal burial. Something about being put onto a rowboat and set ablaze after a big party for my friends and surviving loved ones just appeals to the primitive in me, I guess.
