Roger Federer may only be the second-best men’s tennis player in the world, but when it comes to tennis, second best is still really, really good. We’re talking better than thousands of other people who play tennis on a professional level, and better than millions of weekend amateurs. That’s why, when presented with a video of Roger Federer hitting a can off a crew member’s head with a serve, I’m not sure whether or not it’s real or fake.
That’s the big debate. Is Federer a good enough server to hit a can off someone’s head from across the room? Is his William Tell impression during a photo shoot for a Gillette and British Skin Foundation photo shoot legitimate? If anyone could do it, it’d be him. If anyone might fake it for a viral ad, it’s Gillette, which has to compete with the Old Spice Guy and any number of competitors.
Call me split down the middle on this one. It looks convincing; more convincing than other viral video commercials, anyway. Still, I also believed in the office rampage video, so what do I know?
