If you got six of the last seven Super Bowl winners correct, you’d be pretty pleased with yourself, right? I know I would be if my prognostication was that precise. Well, every year, Electronic Arts has the two Super Bowl competitors square off and face one another in a Super Bowl prediction game held in the EA Sports Madden series. This year’s Super Bowl XLV match-up between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers was simulated on Madden NFL 11, and the Pittsburgh Steelers came out on top. In the Madden 11 Super Bowl prediction game, the Steelers beat the Packers 24-20.
According to Madden 11, the game is a tight one all the way through, with the Steelers hanging on for the victory after a last-minute interception thrown by Packers QB Aaron Rogers. The Steeler passing game wins the day, with Pittsburgh wide receiver Mike Wallace claiming the fictional Madden 11 MVP trophy. The only game not predicted correctly by Madden was the Super Bowl XLII upset of the New England Patriots by the New York Giants; Madden NFL 10 predicted last year’s Saints victory.
Unless there’s another miracle helmet catch, I’d imagine Madden’s record will extend to a seventh year.
