Nobody really knows how the thumbs up got started.  There are stories, of course, related to the killing of gladiators in the arena, but I don’t know if those are true.  Still, the thumbs up has remained one of the most popular gestures given by the human hand, but that’s changing.  The thumbs up is still popular, but it’s spreading past humans and heading into the animal kingdom.  Meet Jimmy the cat, a polydactyl cat who gives thumbs up.

Training a cat to do anything is impressive.  Training a cat to do gestures is even more amazing.  If you don’t love this weird little pet trick, then I guess there’s no hope for you.  As for me, I give Jimmy’s thumbs up a thumbs up.  If you can make the most out of your physical differences, then good for you.  Jimmy’s obviously adapted to life with a thumb, even if he’s not quite ready to get out of his comfortable perch.

It’s thumbs up all around, from the pets on the ground and from babies in the womb.
