This isn’t the bootleg of the real trailer. This is a fan-made trailer, casting Robin Williams as Hugo Strange, put out in February after rumors swirled around Williams being courted for the role. Despite being five months old, this trailer is still fooling some radio personalities.
The official trailer for The Dark Knight Rises was posted to the web early this morning by an unnamed source, who will likely face serious repercussions when caught, just like the last guy.
Warner Bros. has since scoured the internet and removed all traces of it. But don’t despair. Those of you who are lucky enough to have tickets to a midnight showing of the final Harry Potter movie will get a first glimpse of the third installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy tonight. The rest of us will have to wait until the trailer again hits YouTube and Tumblr tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, anyone want to take bets on how many times The Dark Knight Rises will echo Inception? With a poster filled with crumbling skyscrapers, and three of Inception‘s cast antagonizing Batman (Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Marion Cotillard)—four, if Cillian Murphy makes another cameo appearance as Scarecrow—it’s hard not to wonder if the soundtrack will be heavy on tuba and French Horn.
