Guns N’ Roses hasn’t had a trouble-free concert tour in, well… probably ever. Throughout the band’s history, there’s always been some kind of drama, from the band’s perennial lateness, to cutting gigs short early, being cut off by promoters, and even starting riots. GNR, in some sense, is the last real rock band, because they’re the last unpredictable, dangerous act in rock music. If Axl doesn’t want to play, he’s not playing, and Irish Guns N’ Roses fans found this out the hard way after Axl Rose walked off stage after being pelted with bottles during a concert stop at Dublin’s O2 Arena to promote Chinese Democracy, the album that was never supposed to be released.
“If you don’t want to have fun, all you’ve got to do is let us know,” said GNR frontman Axl Rose in the above video. “We’ve got no problem – we’ll go on our way.” And that they did, three songs later. However, unlike other sets in which Axl stormed off, this time the band A) had a good reason to flee and B) came back out after 35 minutes to finish playing the concert, presumably because a lot of the rowdier, drunker fans had left.
